Agreed getting a GC is a painful process not to mention the bureaucracies that go with it.Agreed serious lobbying is necessary to bring about a change in the legislative system coz waiting for years to get ones GC is plain ridiculous.But the idea of REVERSE BRAIN DRAIN is just a myth.I am pretty sure that atleast 80% of the people are just average Joes whose intellect is just better than those blonde babes of the "Girl next door" reality series.We should be glad that we were raised in a foreign country lest would have replaced those poor old folks saying "welcome to wal-mart".So lets stop talking about reverse brain drain and atleast not try to replace those intelligent ones back home. Foeign born programmers are not here because they are exceptionally bright, they are here because they could get a college degree and get trained in programming skills at a cheap throwaway cost, which is harder for an average American to afford. So the foreigner gets to write programs while the American has to settle for a sales position in Best Buy.

The politicians who have to make the decision of sending out illegals have to deal with the problem of not finding maids and gardeners for their expensive homes (their wives are not going to let them do that). Easier for them to let the illegal issue prolong while they enjoy the benefits of cheap labor providing by illegals.

PD is Apr 06 - I-140 approved - Currently Unmarried � WILL TAKE ATLEAST ONE YEAR BEFORE I GET MARRIED - My Spouse will be residing in India at the time of marriage - Spouse would not have any valid U.S visa (H1 or L1).

Anybody who has had a parent with diabetes and taken insurance? If there were any problems, did the insurance pay the costs? If possible can you also mention what problems came up during the stay.

Hope is ok. But IV core has more access than normal members like lawyers, lobbyists. So their view is important. Atleast interpretation of Memo need to known to the members. Also feasiblity of succcess, amount of effort and money need to be known to the members. I am seeing silent in most lawyer sites like immigration-law, shusterman, ILW. This is in reference to a thread about feeling depressed by retrogression or labor backlogs to stuck FBI namechecks or whatever it is that depresses you. Not criticizing anyone in particular so dont aim for me.
Yes, and a lot of people know that there are highly skilled people who are depressed and that takes a toll on employee productivity.

Some employers(like Microsoft) realize this and want to do something about it. Its not just about keeping the best and brightest here in USA. Its also about keeping the morale and productivity up.
As to how to deal with this...try this.
Call your local congressman's office(Find out info about that from House.gov, with your zipcode). Get an appointment with congressman. There is an Easter recess coming up when they would be back from DC.
Then talk to him about all issues you have. Take all the material you need from the "Volunteer" menu item of this website.
Doing something about the problem is the best therapy there is. I am not saying this because I want to coax you into meeting your congressman. No. That's not the objective. But I think action is the best remedy for this problem. And there is actionable stuff to do about this. If you are suffering from terminal cancer, then you really cant do anything about that. This is not such a problem. This is a problem for which the solution is out there.
Somehow, after landing in this country, people lose the appetite for risk and adventure. Before they are in here, they would move mountains to score an H1 or an F1. They were illegals. Yet, the somehow managed to walk into the building where laws of this country are made, talk to people who make the laws that they have broken, go thru Capitol Hill security check, and look into the eye of the lawmaker and talk to them.
However, our community, this is how they behave. Forget about talking to congressman, or contributing money. When they call the core group with a question, they block the caller id can call. Dont disclose their name too. Ask a questions and then quickely hang up. Some of them want to contribute with cash because they are not willing to believe us that we are doing everything legal here and its their right to lobbying and petition the Government for problems.
After paying taxes, after following all immigration laws, after getting all the education in the world to become "Highly skilled", the highly skilled cant bring themselves to stand-up with a straight spine, thump their desk and talk to their lawmaker.
So at the end of the day, if we are depressed that legals dont get attention, then you know where to look for blame : the highly skilled who are highly educated and too afraid because their education and skills make them think too much and analyze too much, and they are afraid all the time.

NC process usually start 1 or 2 weeks after Notice date(this you will get in Receipt Notice). So it's more than 4 years. Wow it's bad.
I filed 485 in Sep 2003.
First Finger Print is done in Aug 2004.
Second Finger Print is done in April 2007.
Took Infopass on Sep 11th 2007 and I was told by Officer that everything looks good but still pending and asked me to check after 2 months.
Took Infopass again on Nov 13th 2007 and came to know that FBI Name Check is Pending on my and my wife's cases.
How do I know how long FBI Name Check is Pending on my case ?

Are you currently employed with this company?what is your current wage? what is the size of the company? how long has the company been in business? what has been the income in the past few years? how much cash do they have in bank? Do they have any external funding? how well do you know the owner? How many people have filed for GC in your company?
Ability to pay is a complicated issue to be answered without knowing all the details. Remember all the data needs to be fully legal (your small time employer should not be saving taxes by using tactics that help him financially but are not right thing to do) and correct and your employer should be willing to help you with all the information. This issue is not difficult to solve. With the help of a good lawyer who knows about the intricacies of ability to pay and takes active interest in your case and a good experienced CPA you can easily overcome it.

Crude prices are crashing because the demand growth projections Goldman sachs had was based on availability of which is not the case now. So, demand for crude is lower and hence oil prices are crashing. Look at GM and ford. They are going down too, because auto sales are doomed for next 2 years.
The problem why Gold will go up is multifold.
China, OPEC countries have huge dollar reserves and hence would like to diversify their dollars. The run up in Gold is just because China and few Oil exporting countries were buying Gold. Gold still has more room to rise. I am talking about physical gold and not the paper gold (GLD ticker symbol).
United States has to print dollars to meet the present crisis. At the same time, it has support those currency papers with Gold. Without Gold backing, dollar value will be crushed.
I am goldsmith and i do know the history of Gold going back to decades. I also read several books to top it all.
See the value of Gold after making inflation adjustments. Don't just look at the per ounce value in dollar terms.
Unless you look at money supply (m3), you will not be able to get a grip on Gold value.
Google on term 'brenton woods' and do some reading.
The only way Gold can be crushed is if
a) United States sells all its Gold holdings.
b) If some gold miner miraculously says that they found a mine with billions of ounces of gold and which can profitably extracted.
