I agree with you guys...especially even if they permit 485 filing pending the priority date...it will help a whole lot of people get out of their employer's tyrannical grip and lead a free life.....:) ...I only hope the SKIL bill gets passed in some way sooner.....

I am desi also, but I hate these consulting companies who do that. I worked my a** off to get a full time job, never faked my resume. People in this forum who blame it on the system are as guilty as the desi companies. Come on people, who are you all kidding, can you commit a crime and balme it on society/system for it? This is the typical of our Indian way of thinking!

But as I have noticed, there is a lot of misinformation being spread around H1-B holders. One of those is that H1-B holders don't pay taxes. I have now read it at so many places, if I didn't know anything about H1-B visas, I would probably have believed it by now. So we really should make a point to mention that we pay taxes and social security.
Yes, on blogger's sites, I have read posts that make these false claims. Perhaps, we need to tell the press this, although I haven't seen an article in a respected newspaper that makes such a claim (I could be wrong, and there may be such reports). Also, I don't know of any lawmaker who has said that H1Bs don't pay taxes.
My point was that we cannot use that as a reason to get immigration benefits. We are supposed to pay taxes because that is the law. These taxes are needed to run the country that we are living in.
We should focus on how we impact the US economy in our letters. This is my view.

Pros of using H1B:
1. If I-485 denied or having issues in getting approved, then you can still continue with your H1B and have peace of mind.
2. You can bring your spouse / dependents using H4
3. Getting Driving License renewal up to the duration of H1 is not a problem.
4. Can renew in 3 years time period after I-140 approval and can avoid frequent renewal of EAD hassle.
5. EAD renewal every year is expensive and can save money!
Pros of using EAD:
1. Can get a job where the company is not willing to sponsor.
2. Can save H1B time and can be used in future, if needed. [I read about this some time back and users need to check regarding it's validity]
3. Can change companies without any documentation using AC21. [USCIS don�t ask don�t tell policy?]

Real estate property prices will crash in Hyderbad. There is no shortage of land in and around Hyderabad. Already talk of giving away Hyderabad to Telangana is hotting up.
The cheap money from Japan is gone and will never come again. Call rates for banks have risen to 20% (bank to bank lending).
Already there are fissures in European Union in handling the crisis.
The situation is out of reach for USA and Dollar value may crash. The recent runup in dollar is due to Euro crashing. It is a temporary phenomenon.
Keep an eye on all the economic indicators and you will do good for yourself and your family.
I already got plenty of red reps for this sage advise in the past 8 months.

maybe we should have a 'sounding board' section where such threads can be started where you can cirb all you want about desi companies/consultants and other issues you want to get out of your system. You do realize that many people read these threads. Spritied discussions are great but upto a certain point and if they help the cause.
We are a small community here and all of us are stuck in a problem we DID NOT create. we are a part of a system that is broken. Instead of crying about problems, lets try and figure out ways to solve one for a change.
if people cannot contribute financially, conrtibute your time and talk to people about IV. Try to meet sucessful/influential immigrants and see if they can help us out, see if they can help us with their contacts. Try to seek people who are stuck in this mess and educate them about it. Get leads on people who can help us out.
Start a thread that mentions what you have done to help IV maybe people will learn from that

I have come across at least one-colleague in every client place who left U.S.A - after being here for more than 7 years. And they do have children, houses and handsome salaries. And I know of number of people who have plans to eventually go back. But it's just matter of time and money. If property prices were not crazy in India, I am sure more people would have left by now.

I am sorry, not a computer guy, but can mass mailing for funding alerts from IV be possible to "loyal customers only"? I am not sure I am giving the right idea/ thought. But what I am thinking is lets say this Administrative cost re-imbursment works, can we send to selected 1000- 2000 non-core member like anzerraja or khodalmd (for example) and ask them to send money? Like how these sticky works...just a solid click and send money sticky. Or I dont know ask everyone...see how many people come in and divide the money...it can be 100 or more.
