Hi currently I am doing my Master's and i will graduate on 2th april 2008. My OPT starts from june 15th 2008 and ends on 14 june 2008.
I am planning to file H1 this year on april 1 2008. I have a letter from chair of graduate studies stating that i will complete all the requirements for masters and graduate at the end of april 2008. Will I qualify for master's quota? If not, if I apply in general quota is that a good Idea or If I skip my H1 this year what should I do.
Instead of Chair of graduate studies can I have letter from any other person in the University coz my chair refused to give me a letter stating that I completed all the requirements for masters.

Thanks man. My decision was mainly based on the waiting period. Within 4-5 years I can get ultimate post based on my experiance at india but here I have to be in same role.
Also I am trying to start my own IT training firm there so with gods on my side in 4-5 years that company can grow to a mid size firm.

what makes you think that EB3 are just graduates only? i worked in top 3 telecom company with B.tech+ 8 years experience before joining that company as full time employee in 2000 Jan. they started by GC process in JAn 2001.
but they have a company policy that all will be filed as EB3 no matter what. i have my colleagues who have masters from US, but still EB3. what do you say ?
what pisses me off is today i have more than 15 years of experience in IT , (yes Information technology only) and still in the line with EB3.
I'm happy that atleast EB2 is moving but at the same time there must be a balance for EB3 as well. that's all my point
(NOte: i was playing by rule so far and no regrets for that)
because they spent those 2 years getting additional academic qualifications such as masters etc., you should have listened to your parents when they told you to study well.. didnt you play cricket then ?

If she works for a hospital which can do a H1B for her then 'Yes', but if she wabts to start up of her own, she can not petition for herself. I haven't seen any hospitals having dentists on their payrolls. Mostly it is the ER staff like cardiologists, anestheologists, surgeons.
hi thanks.but dentist visa is usually sponsered by companies(eg. western dental centers) or small dental centers who put dentist on their payroll,like they have a setup where 5-6 dentist work. i cant start up on my own as i dont have gc so has to be employed.so can i still get under H1B masters quota

I reiterate what I said in my earlier post. The purpose of the post was not to start an argument. It was just an explanation of a baffling retrogression of dates.
Many people in these forums were asking bewilderingly, how can dates which were already retrogressed by eight years can go further back? Are there people around who are waiting for 8 years just to get their labors cleared? If their labors were already done, then what were they doing for 8 years before filing AOS petitions? I explained that no, nobody was waiting for all these years at the labor stage. These are new candidates utilizing old pre-approved labors. Thats all.
In fact, I predict retrogression to U level in EB2-I also. Many of these same people will now jump the queue again and switch to EB2 category.
Again, this is no judgment passing. Just an explanation of things as they stand. It is what it is.

Im going to India on vacation for 2 months. I could not get my passport corrected in US as I need to travel to India in a week.
What is the procedure in India for getting this corrected ? Would i need the Newspaper clipping from Local US newspaper here..? I was not sure of this. Please help me.

There is nothing surprising about sept VB. Retrogression is here to stay unless any bill is passed. Please take note of the action item we have posted if we wish to see a change instead of waiting for VB and hoping for change.

logically speaking lottery will be applied only on the applications that have crossed the limit. for 20000 MS H1 quota assume on April 4 the numbr of applications recieved is 18000 and on April 5 the number of applications recieved is 4000, then lottery will be held for the 4000 applications to determine the 2000 cases. All applications recieved on and after april 6 will be returned.
This is just my logical reasoning.

1. Advertisement in a National Indian News Paper.
2. Advertisement in a USA Local News Paper.
3. An affidavit, issued in India saying name is being changed, signed by the person whose name is being changed.
OR
1. If you are married and have the original marriage certificate AND the certificate was issued from India AND the certificate has the corrected name, then all of the above are not necessary.
I will try to post the format for the ads and the affidavit shortly. Watch this thread.
