Except for those still living in denial, we know that if anyone actually "DID" anything to cause the reversal of July Visa Bulletin... it was Hon. Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, Ms Gabriela Ptasinska who filed a lawsuit from Chicago, and Immigration Voice!
Now,
1) Calculate the amount of money YOU saved by not having to re-apply for your and your family's AOS under the new fee structure (and who knows after how many years into future?)
2) Look at the amount of money your spouse can now bring home as he/she is eligible to work with their EAD
3) Add the medical examination fees
4) Add money you would spend on photocopies/ courier charges/ driving to your lawyers office to sign the papers
The list is long, and all of it is now part of your "savings" largely due to the efforts of Immigration Voice!
And even after saving so many $$, people think $50 a month is too much to ask for?? And that too, when this is going to help bring you even closer to the one document that you think about everyday?
That sounds like "penny wise pound foolish"!
It's not too late, please sign up for monthly contributions and get active... and help IV to help you see your Green Card sooner than later.

I was under the same impression. I didn't want to change the address...but i did today....
If you do not change your address you will not receive any mails from USCIS as USPS does not forward "Return Service Requested" official mails. The reason being anyone can forward an address...and it may fall in wrong hands.
You will neither receive any notices like finger printing and neither will you be able to renew your AP or EAD when the time comes....since those will have your old addresses on file.

I have only a few things to say to Mr. Sherman.
Do whatever the F**K you want to stop us immigrants. You can't.
Nobody was able to stop your Grandpa from hopping aboard the Mayflower and landing in Ellis island and making a good life for himself. He had the might. He did it. So will we. However, I will do one thing more than that. I will teach my grand kids to respect people, no matter who they are and where they are from.
I am going to immigrate. I am going to work hard. I am going to prosper. I will bring good life to my family. I will bring value to this society and this country. I will start companies and provide my brother americans with jobs. I will help make America better.
You only make me stronger.
I could say here that people like you make our lives difficult. But that would be wrong. I have quite a few Second generation Italian friends here in florida and they are simply gems. They are among the reason I always wanted to come to this country. So you are alone in your ridicule/negative motivation. Hey you guys - ask not what someone else can do for you but what you can do for someone else...didn't JFK say something like that ;)
You are ABSOLUTELY correct in saying that all the forums mention EB2 and very little attention is shed on EB3. I wonder why! Is it because EB2 recepients are more actively involved on IV? Or because EB3 recepients are quieter? Both these situations lend themselves to the bias towards EB2. And ultimately lead to one thing - more being done for EB2. I am EB2 and believe you me - I'm not complaining.
Sadly though, the number of EB3 applicants is many many times the number of EB2. So, there's something to be said for participation and having your voice heard. It is no wonder then that we as a group are dismal at having our collective voices heard - we don't participate like our lives depended on it. And in this case our entire lives depend on what's going on...
So, instead of bickering and blaming, why don't we awaken the giant that is EB3 India and China and have them participate as well...maybe we'll be able to kill many many birds (country limits, DC rallies, contributions to IV and lobbying activities, phone call campaigns, letter campaigns...) with just one stone....just thinking out loud...that's all...

Every week I take time to do some research so that I can be on top of the immigration updates, and why not?
Attorneys have absolutely no clue about the problems and despair we are going thru. They drag heels on simple processing and documentation work, oblivious to the fact that even a single day just adds to our woes.
I need to plan more than 6 months in advance for any major change in my life , be it marriage, having a baby, investing in property - u name it. Every single life event has a big question mark after it. Will I get the visa stamped? Will I be able to extend status? Can I do this, Can I do that? Well I guess life has an immigrant in the US (legal or illegal) has a question mark ?
I am going thru this frustrating non-ending wait to get anywhere close to permanent residency. I had filed for labor - Then came the DOL overhaul, where labor certification decisions are rolled out in the most haphazard, and random fashion one can ever imagine. Unable to wait any longer I even quit the company that filed my LC and joined another company
I am waiting for the new co to file a new LC under PERM - Again I need to wait as LCs can't be filed immediately for new hires - Even finding a co that can provide immigration benefits along with other personal benefits becomes a challenge.
Now I wish my old LC never gets approved - It remains pending for a few more years - at least I can get incremental h1b extensions. (thanks to the AC21 silver lining)
I just have another year left on my H1. I have worked for over 5 years legally, never going out of status, paying all taxes.
My spouse even gave up the idea of working here legally. The long wait for immigration benefits is now a part of my life - All I can do is pray that our senators when going for recess while discussing immigration; get some thought into their heads abt the nightmare that legal immigrants go thru....

Thanks for opening this thread.I am sure there be plenty of struggling stories to inspire us fight till we reach our goals. I like the way you are giving small snippets of stories without compromising privacy of the person.
If we can get permission from the person to print these stories on IV website , that would be great read and inspire lot of members.
This person's company promoted him to IT Manager with huge hike and then he learnt from company attorney that he cannot change his role while his LPR is in process. He then got demoted to Sr.Software enginner from IT Manager and the hike was rolled back
This is truly the shocking reality of the life of legal immigrants. We need more and more such stories to pass on to our senators...please keep on sending these stories.....

people who already applied for GC (any EB) and are waiting, understand that you are lucky to cross that line.. in currrent economy, it doesn't matter if its EB2 or EB3, any job posting out there will get 100s of resumes and we are politely told to look for other options outside the country.. guess the below statement is true for everyone who needs to apply now..

I am not on estrogen therapy, but I decided to write about the feelings that I underwent during the 3 days of the event. If you do not want to read the entire post, skip to the last paragraph.
1. Anxiety: On Sunday, as I was making my way towards Hyatt Regency on the Capitol Hill (a beautiful and an expensive hotel) I was a little anxious about meeting new people (I am a closet introvert :D ). I was not sure if the people would just continue the non-productive conversations about Eb3 vs EB2 or India vs ROW or just be plain annoying. Boy, was I wrong!!! That anxiety disappeared in a matter of minutes after walking in the situation room. The folks were dedicated and meant business. The leadership of the core group was evident, they made sure that we didn't go off message, relatively an easy task for them since most of us there realized the importance of keeping on message.
2.Excitement: As we started the training, people started pouring great ideas (and few not so great IMHO).The trainer in chief chased each of these ideas to its logical conclusion and without saying whether they had merit or not made it obvious for us to decide. How classy and what a phenomenal coaching style!. The talking points that we discussed were articulated meticulously and question/comments were dealt with insight, experience and facts (this one is very important, we all know what opinions are like...). This was the one feeling (excitement) that lasted through the 3 days and I still cant shake it off (not that I am trying, but I don't want people to confuse me for the energizer bunny!! - we have some one else for that ;))
3.Nervousness: The first meeting. No, no not with the folks from Congress, but the mock meeting at the training session. The veterans gave us a demonstration of their insights/ knowledge and quick wit. So of course I was nervous coming in after that performance. I volunteered to be on the first ones of these mock sessions and felt all eyes in the room on me. I tried to focus on the task at hand (which was at that time, to stop my legs from shaking ;)). Perhaps, the mock session was the toughest of all the meetings that I had on the hill (remember that the hotel was 'on the hill' too :)).
4.Awesomeness: This is what it was all about. For me as a first timer, entering the hallowed halls of congress and participating in the democratic process up close and personal is an awesome feeling. Just walking down those corridors and noticing the closed doors with signs that say 'Appropriations Committee', or 'Democratic Caucus' and knowing that laws that affect lives of more than 300 million people are being crafted, debated and being voted on right there....what a rush. I think this too will be with me for a long long time.
5.Camaraderie: This is a fun bunch of serious people on a mission. I think mostly everyone hit off well with everyone else. I made a whole bunch of acquaintances that I feel could mature into strong friendships. Even though we worked our collective butts off, there was always light hearted humor floating around. It was great.
6.Gratitude: Looking at the hard work put in by the countless tireless volunteers was a humbling experience. These very kind souls put in hour after hour of work during the event but they put in even more before the event started. I don't know, if the rest of you know, organizing an event at such a scale is a massive undertaking and despite hiccups we came out the other end in great shape. My gratitude goes to all the people that put their hearts, minds and souls in allowing our community to participate in the democratic process at the highest level. Thanks for making this happen.

I also saw first hand the resource constraints that IV has and how they figure something out and make it happen. Trust me folks, it is not easy to work thanklessly for days on end for 18 hours and still keep a cheerful demeanor but they did. My sincere thanks to IV leadership, all the fellow volunteers and all monetary contributers for allowing me such a great opportunity. Part of me hopes that we never have to do this again, but that hope also makes me sad that I probably wont get to experience a full gamut of feelings again.

USCIS has just released their tally of cap filings as of 04/04/2007, Wednesday. In two days (04/02 and 04/03), they received 133,000 unique pieces of mail containing H-1B petitions, which turned out to be lower than 150,000 which they had initially reported. They reached the updated number following a physical count of the mail. Each piece of mail may contain more than one H-1B petition and it will take USCIS a substantial amount of time to open and sort through that volume of mail. It is a good news in a way that at the end, the total may turn out to be less than guestimate in the community and the rate of odds for winning in the lottery may be much more promising than the one initially anticipated in the rumors.
As of Wednesday, total they sorted out and each type of cases identified were as follows:
Total Sorted Out: 32,755
General cap cases: 28,052
U.S. Master or higher degree cases: 4,703
The USCIS promises to update report from time time as they continue to sort out the remaining packages.
It is surprising that the U.S. Master or higher degree cases are more or less higher than expected.
HUM - Even if i do a liner extrapolation, there will be 19,097 US-MS in the 130,000 packets which transates that those who applied on Apri l 2 and 3 will get into the 20K US-MS quota!
This assumes a linear sampling of US-MS petitions in the above reported USCIS sample (4703 US_MS petitions in 32775)

Dear friends,
The next session of congress is almost upon us. Nothing will be achieved without funds, please open your hearts and wallets and contribute now. Remember, we are in the fight of our lives, a half hearted effort will condemn us to more of the same.
Please contribute and post here to encourage others as well.

The collection so far shows 33.33% of the $60K target as of December 11th.
Friends I pledge a $500 donation as soon as the figures reaches 500 less than halfway ... i.e $29,500 and another again once the figure reaches 500 less of $60,000 i.e $59,500. Pappu or any of the core member please let me know once we touch this figures BY 31ST DECEMBER. Till then keep the marathon going.

Another member from CA has joined this challange. The member has contacted me and I have spoken to the member. The member wants to stay as an annonymous donor. So far he has contributed $1500 over the past few months. This member has pledged to pitch in with some more money when the total contributions from other members reach the 30,000 & 60,000 dollar mark. Specifically, he will contribute $250 more when we get close to $30,000, and another $250 for the $60,000.

It is good to analyze. But pls let us be together.
There are several who's category was determined by the employer and their lawyer and an equal number, who have no clue as to what is actually the content of their labor. Myself for example, was never allowed a glimpse of the labor application, only know that it was approved. i also do not have a hard copy of my I140.
The positive point is this year, major channels are talking about Legal immigration much more than i have heard before.
let us work together to highlight the broken system, the only way it can eventually get fixed by our direct efforts.

Also, you mentioned in one of your earlier posts- That you have received 3 EAD cards for 2 people!!!:D

To qualify under Master's you must have COMPLETED ALL requirements on the day you file the H1. Meeting the same POST filing will NOT be considered by USCIS (i.e., case will be denied). Better letter to submit is one coming from REGISTRAR of the school. A simple statement that you met all requirements for MS degree and that the actual diploma will be given on so and so date will suffice.
