my I-485 was pending from 2001 and then my case was transfered to NBC I had an interview and then I got the I-797 Welcome Notice welcoming me as a permanent resident of the United States and it said on the notice you will get your green card in the mail in about 3 weeks and then checked my online status it said we ordered the card for production
ok at this point everything is looking good
and then after 5 days check my status online
found the following :

Current Status: Case reopened or reconsidered based on USCIS determination, and the case is now pending.

check the latest release on July 17.pdf. I am not sure how many applications are rejected on july 2nd ...If one did not recieve rejected package it means,they are going to honor the application as long as initial evidence is right.

I agree with you. USCIS withdrew VB#108 (revised Visa bulletin which came out on July,2nd).So, They should accept our applications, if they were properly filed but the update didnt clearly mention that they accept applications which were filed in the first week of July.So, there is still some ambiguity exists.

IT IS AS SIMPLE AS THIS ----
IV has to convince the government that this mess was created because close to 100000 visas were WASTED/UnUsed while BEC was busy(or not busy) sorting through the cases. If it is the mistake of a govt department, then the govt should fix it by recapturing these visas. They will act only when you make them look bad or file a suit against them. Why hasn't IV been able to push a simple argument like this????

I understand DREAM act is not related to EB issues. What I meant was, just like how DREAM act is being added to an unrelated bill, we should work on adding things like 'unlimited STEM visas' and 'recapture unused numbers' to other bills and get them passed.
IV core will need lot of support to do accomplish this, hope at least some of the folks who got into IV because of the july fiasco contribute funds.

I think some of our members put the votes in wrong place.
For Eg : for "Before Nov 01 2002" right now the number of votes are 24 click on 24 you will see which user voted for "Before Nov 01 2002 now check for couple of users for their Labour Approval Date some have labour approval dates of 2006 and 2007

hi,
my parents will be travelling to the US in a couple of months, and I was looking for health insurance for them. Based on various forums, looks like US companies are preferable to insurance bought from india (and as per forums, ICICI lombard seems to have the most negative reviews among the indian firms).
Anyways - has anyone used insu buy .com to buy medical insurance for their parents, and had to make a claim? They seem to be an insurance broker -- so the insurance company will be a third party, but they (insu_buy) seems to claim that they will also help out with claims in case of any issues.
Anyone have any experience buying + claiming insurance via ? (and if so, what was the insurance company that sold the claim via ?)
I searched immigration voice forums for "insu buy" but though there are many threads about medical insurance for parents, there doesnt seem to be any mention of -- so any experiences shared will be helpful.

PS: Looks like the IV forum is automatically filtering out [insu buy] and [buy american insurance] if i remove spaces from the words -- probably an anti spam measure. Hence i've put spaces between the "insu" and "buy" & between "buy" and "american insurance" -- without it, when i preview my message before posting, the words seem to get auto filtered out of the message!! Are you Millionaire?Do you have lot of money or lot of savings? Even with US passport the moment citizens cross 50 years they are on death bed in US. One hour in emergency room (just hello and goodmorning) in public hospital cost $1000.Its a capatilist country and they dont care about people and even citizens.If you come to US then dont get ever sick. I know in Canada and UK taxes are high but when you need services NHS and other agencies are always there to help you and protect you. It takes 1000 days in Canada for parents to get PR and after PR they are all eligible to use Canadian free public health system.20000 pages of new Obama's health care reform and it does nothing regarding pre-existing conditions, immigrants,high deductibles and aged US citizens.Even full time employeed people with employer insurance really have to fight very hard to get their insurance pay for necessary medical services in US.Its because all insurance companies are always looking for bogus and false reasons to just deny even ligitimate claims.
I strongly suggest all indians and immigrants to please dont ever grow old or sick in USA otherwise your American dream will give its real nightmare reality.

One of the approaches can be for state chapters to be involved and solicit donations from local members. I liked the idea for donations from immigrants who have already obtained green cards and online ADS from google as long as we do not overdo it. I am leaning more towards funding drives. For reasons that people in the process understand better than I do, I agree that the amounts cannot be disclosed. Hence it would be nice to have offline discussions or discussions on PMs on targets between state chapter members.
I for one am not for monthly payments or memberships. That just makes for exclusive organization and we want to be more inclusive.
I also had another important question we need to ask ourselves. Do we want to solicit funding or donations or participation? They are two very different things. Participation is not limited to monetary involvement but can include time and ability (designing banners, websites, writing letters et al.) donation.
