Also if you have multiple browsers (IE, Firefox), you can vote from each of them once :D
Doesn't work for me. I have Opera and IE. Thats the first thing I tried this morning when I voted...but anyways we have put-in enought efforts to have 2 questions in first 10.

Had atleast 40 votes on this.

Good post I like it and I probably may follow most of these eventually but, if I think about it, it seems to me lot of stress. Maintaining records from past ten (GC)/fifteen (Citizenship) years is certainly a stressful activity. Except education certificates I never cared for anything in my home country. In spite of taking care of all this, if you get involved in an unfortunate event everything GC/Citizenship goes into vain and back to square one.
I am not trying to discourage or depress any one. Its just a thought.
Appreciate your thought, thanks. Maintaining detailed documentation can be a big pain in you-know-where, particularly if I am asked to do it suddenly today (believe me, I am one of the world's leading disorganized blokes). Instead, if I begin to get organized early, the process eventually becomes incremental and stress-free. That is what I wanted to share here, the idea of getting organized early to have a smoother passage of time later (much like invest-today-afford-later philosophy). Unfortunate events are unpredictable, but that should not mean I ignore what I can control :)

On USCIS website I-130 is also pending along with I-485.
At I-485 interview IO said only thing keeping my freedom (GC) away from me is NC.
Does that mean I-130 is going to clear automatically once the NC is cleared ? or do I have to be worried about that separately?

I-130 has to be approved first.

This is not EB3 vs EB2, this is about filthy, demeaning language being used on public forums to put a class of skilled workers down.

You call consultants "sleazy and body-shopped".
    You call EB3 third class.
    You call EB3 dumb.

If EB3 were to leave today, you EB2s will have no jobs left. EB3s will take away all the jobs with them overseas and take your too! After that you can preach this swinging philosophy of yours!

You say EB3 is only a notch above "illegals"?
How can legals even be compared with illegals?

This is a baseless post and ironically you are quoting a post that does NOT say a single of the statements above.
Please note that I did not compare EB2 vs EB3.
Hypothetical scenarios hold no meaning or place in an educated debate/argument. Try to understand that, please.

ICICI is good at advertising false figures (with our money of course) and SBI is little delayed in updating their websites - does that solves the equation :)

SBI rate is 43.21 for $4001 but i'm sure that's not latest because the website is not updated hour by hour ( like ICICI/R2i/C2i at least do for AD) but I've seen honesty in SBI's dealings when they actually convert $ to Rs. Even if the website shows lower rates they converted my money with higher rates because the market rate was higher during conversion.

I would trust SBI more than ICICI for customer friendly charges. As far as efficiency concern, ICICI may be better. As a merchant banker in India I have dealt with both of them during 90's.

Although problem is genuine, no body (media, lawmakers, and US citizens) noticed our problem and recognize out contribution. We need to do something non-traditional to draw the attention of media. DC meet is one good chance, if we can gather significant quality heads. I am scared that only around 1000 members (may be less) are active at the peak of depression. And I don't know how many will show up to DC.

Immigration is not our right but at least, world should know the injustice.

The meeting won't start until the House session is over, they are currently voting on a bill in the House

The proceedings have not started yet. I see people moving in and out.

It would be nice to have people donate and list down skills that they would be willing to contribute.

I am not sure if its legal or not but various members can contribute their skills in exchange of donation to IV. This way members with skills are giving their time to IV and Members of the forum are getting sound advice/guidance/service for small contribution to IV. Examples can be many like CPA, Tax preparation, Doctors, career guidance, Online tutoring, Software consutlancy. I am sure all the members are "SKILLED" in various walks of life.

Here is what I guess people are scared of

Every company has a lawyer on its payroll so they can easily start some court case to harras you. In this country you do not have much support except some close friends and may be far off relatives. So even if you know that you have done nothing wrong and have solid case the idea of hiring a lawyer and fighting a legal battle scares a lot of people. Plus every one has a job and family responsiblities and they cannot devote time to all these things. Say you are now working in New Jersey and your old employer is based in California and files a case against you there what will happen will you have to travel to california to represent in case? what will happen to your job and expenses etc. I am not sure if these are valid concerns but just thinking of this will dissuade a person to gear up for any kind of fight.

Lou "Liar" Dobbs is coming to Michigan ...................................

Don't be suprised if you start receiving dirty looks from American co-workers at your worksite. Worst case you and your family may get mugged by a stranger who has been fired up by the recent "progressive" baloney that cheap foreign labor is preventing "minority" communities from receiving their fair share of STEM jobs.

If such unfortunate incidents increase in the future, you know whom to blame - YOU. If only you were more active in protecting your interests, such incidents could've been avoided.

    ....................................

Walking_dude I really appreciate your passion.

What do you mean by inactivity of a collective "YOU" ? Inactivity in taking on people like Lou or inactivity on participating IV campaigns to get GC quickly ?

If you are talking about taking on people like Lou, with all due respect, this is over simplification of the issue. Lets face it, He has the highest ranking show in CNN. Most people who indulge in populist propaganda will be successful , at least in the short run. You need a HUGE propaganda machine even to attempt to take on him. Just read the transcripts of his program to find what kind of words he used against Newyork governor (Indicative of his arrogance from success).

On the other hand if some one gives me a look based on how I look, they will give it even after I get my GC and Citizenship. The mugger will not ask me my visa status. I get mugged even after I became a citizen.

This is not to support the inactivity. I appreciate the efforts put in by one and all and I believe those actions help reduce the suffering.
This is just to point out the fact that some members wittingly or unwittingly suggesting that not having GC is cause for all problems. It certainly help alleviate some but it is not a cure all.

Once again I am merely trying to they are two different issues.

Ok, with the latest developements, I have applied for my 485, EAD and AP this week. My current H1 expires in June 2008.
If I get married before June 2008, I can still bring my wife to US on dependent (H4) visa. My question is, for my wife
to be able to file for 485 then, do the visa numbers have to be current at that time? And if they do, and say the numbers are not current at that time, and then my H1 expires come June 08, will she be out of status and can she remain in US? What are our options then? How does this work??
    Can anyone explain PLEASE?

    Thanks!

u can keep renewing your H-1 as long as your 485 has been pending for more then 180 days.(someone corect me if i am wrong).Once u get ure recipt number ure status changes to "485 pending" and can be on h-1 as long as ure GC is approved. No matter when u get married your wife will not be out of status-so its a good decision that u applied.
