I don't know why but we tend to be satisfied with lsmall benefits...
I agree with you "something (EAD and AP) is better than nothing"
But i bet you ..you will find your self in the same situation of agony and endless waiting for the final Green card.
I bet most of the people don't use your ead and AP as it puts you in a gray "Adjustment of status". They are good to have though. But you will see...how painful it is to decide to use them or not..
What i want to say is that being able to apply for EAD and AP is not the end of the battle..you will be stuck in a depressing situation waiting for the final green card.How do i know? .. I went through it...waiting for GC for the past 4 years.
I dont know its FBI or its just the USCIS incompetence but waiting in the final stage is horrible. Every time you travel you are scared...AP as for as my lawyer goes IT does not guarantee 100% entry in to the country.
After you apply for AP its only 1 year H1 increments.
What i am saying why dont we try for the overall improvement of the GC processing. Why dont we be firm about not wasting the GC numbers and recapturing the unused numbers.
We had a small revolt (peaceful way) and its successful.We dont want to stop there.
LETS FIGHT FOR THE OVERALL IMPROVEMENT OF THE GC PROCESSING

2. Getting USCIS to treat Primary + Derivatives as one Visa number rather than individual.

And if I am really and sincerely proud of my country of origin I would not become citizen of other country in spite of any attractive lure. It is that simple.

As per today $ conversion rate is ICICI offering 43.28 and SBI is offering 43.16,if you transffer more than $2000. So ICICI offering better rate.

Look at the previous post. Its a myth that NRIs are buying up all these high end properties.
Indian real estate market is fueled by the black money india. They are using NRIs as a facade. Investing in realestate legitimizes that money. Now they don't care how much rent they are getting. It makes no business sense at all. You and me cannot comepete with them.
Assuming you are correct. The black money needs to be converted to white money. So they need to sell the apartment at some point in future. There is no point in letting it sit there with low returns. If all these properties come to market the effect is the same. It drives down the price.
Otherwise I have to conclude that these guys want to repent their mistakes and doing community a service by buying properties at sky high prices so that ordinary folks can rent it and is made affordable. :)

As far as the fund drive is concerned I disagree that without the VB we would have not reached our goal We over 22.5K in 6 days. The VB provided a push but I am sure we could have collected the remaining 7.5K in 24 days.
Do you think the drive would have reached its original goal yesterday/early today without the January visa bulletin retrogressing us even further...?
I have my doubts about that... :)
And how far in the past would we need to retrogress to get another funding drive done...?

my I-485 was pending from 2001 and then my case was transfered to NBC I had an interview and then I got the I-797 Welcome Notice welcoming me as a permanent resident of the United States and it said on the notice you will get your green card in the mail in about 3 weeks and then checked my online status it said we ordered the card for production
ok at this point everything is looking good
and then after 5 days check my status online
found the following :

I quite do not get what you are asking. You want to know if buying a call on an ETF that has had a drawdown with an expiration of less than 15 days will be profitable?
There are various option strategies and I usually trade spreads as the most basic strategy. I rarely if ever buy just calls that too with such low theta (<15 days). I usually trade 4 legged spreads like the butterfly, iron condor or at least bull/bear calls/puts.
Most of the time I am long vol (vega) with a strip strap or straddle. Sometimes I am short vega but hedge it with an exotic like a digital, or binary on the vix. I always go for optimal delta hedge and often construct synthetics. Never plain vanilla calls and puts unless I am hedging something else in a different universe with an option.
If you can explain better what your strategy is I can make comments. If possible clearly state the greeks on the strategy so I can visualize it.

As far as joining a state chapter, you don't need to have face to face meetings at all. We haven't had even ONE meeting in NORCAL in the last few months.
Several state chapter members have collected & mailed to us dozens of letters without meeting us even once.
When there is time to act, you don't have to worry about how far you live etc.
The joint efforts of SoCal & NorCal are an excellent example as well. Gsc999 from NorCal has been to SoCal once in a while to help them with a Diwali Mela or a Letters drive, and SoCal folks drove to San Jose for the rally in July 07, and drona from SoCal helped us organize a Diwali mela event in NorCal in 11/2007.
More recently, rinsuper from SoCal called up hundreds of IV members all over California, then mailed us a bunch of 50 letters she had personally collected!
If there is a will, there is a way. If you insist on having a local chapter, feel free to setup yourself. IV will be too happy to help you do it!
