Hi Guys
I want to bring up one point very clearly. Guys there is no one in Washington DC offices talking about the difficulties we are facing other than IV organization members . We need to lobby the lawmakers
3. Donate what ever we can ( 10 , 20 , 30$ etc..) to our cause in IV .

Hi currently I am doing my Master's and i will graduate on 2th april 2008. My OPT starts from june 15th 2008 and ends on 14 june 2008.
I am planning to file H1 this year on april 1 2008. I have a letter from chair of graduate studies stating that i will complete all the requirements for masters and graduate at the end of april 2008. Will I qualify for master's quota? If not, if I apply in general quota is that a good Idea or If I skip my H1 this year what should I do.
Instead of Chair of graduate studies can I have letter from any other person in the University coz my chair refused to give me a letter stating that I completed all the requirements for masters.

.... Our 5 PM meeting was with a Congressman himself and had a Core team member, myself and another member who was later offered an unpaid Internship by a lobbying firm. Just when we were wondering why the position would be unpaid we were told that the reason for being unpaid was because the green card process for the member accepting the position would be reset since it would not fall under same or similar category which made all of us crack up.
Was this intern an IV member or was this intern a member of the staff - and is the lobby firm that hired him working on fixing immigration issues?
Our closing meeting went on until 11 after which each one of us took our Action items and next steps to take back to our districts. Everyone we met over the past couple of days told us to keep up the work we have been doing for the past few years. Good work and great follow through always leads to good results.

We don't want to create more divisions based on how they got in to queue for GC. As a matter of fact, my company filed I-140 based on a old labor, where the skills were matching exactly and the previous person left the company. The company that I work in has 8500 employees, I was not even aware that they filed premium for I-140. I did not have to pay dime for all the process.
Pls remember filing substitution labor was legal back then.
However, USCIS removed this provision in 2007 and the discussion ends there.
When you compare all other issues that are the root causes for the retrogression, we are spending the time and energy on some thing that would not help any one.

Thanks for the IV core team, and all others who helped to achieve this victory. I am just couple of days old member on IV but realized the importance of supporting IV for addressing the issues concerning our immigration community. I also contributed my donation as a token of my support. IV rocks!
Thanks a lot to all members for being with us in this struggle. We have tasted our first big success this year. Credit goes to each and every IV member. We were all affected by the visa bulletin fiasco and this is our victory. This is a victory for all our members and we must rejoice.
IV had worked very hard and had been pushing for this in the background. Our flower campaign, rally and other advocacy efforts all came together and helped us at a crunch time. We thank members that sent flowers and also walked in the San Jose heat for 4 hours. All that really shows our commitment to this cause.
We are happy that our efforts are successful and IV has been able to make a difference. Please also know that during this effort, IV was extremely active and decision makers heard our voice. We cannot give out all the details but what IV members should know is that these efforts should make each one of us proud and what we can do if we have a firm resolve. We were also the first to break this news even before anyone else or media could, and continued to update our members as time passed.

I am going to take the liberty of putting together an agenda for the conference call, just to make it more productive. I can play scribe for the call.
The call will be for a maximum of 60 mins, unless someone wants to take it longer than that.
1. Quick introductions - State your name - GC application stage. - 10 mins
2. Brainstorming session -- 20 mins
2. Volunteers who want to be part of the smaller sub-group need to come forward. -- 5 mins
This is purely to get thoughts/ideas streamlined. Everybody needs to chip in once the action plans are drafted.
3. Volunteers to exchange contact information. -- 10 mins
4. Miscellaneous -- 15 mins (if needed)
Please add more items if you feel they are necessary.
I will try to scrape all the ideas generated in this thread and will summarize for the call. If anyone wants to post more ideas/comments/suggestions/criticisms, go right ahead and post.

Denatured, looks like no one knows the exact answer. It's only the 2nd year we've had the lottery, and last year it was unexpected so not many people had 2 applications in.
If both of your H1s are approved, then I'd imagine you'd receive two approval notices with different company names on it. I believe you'd then have to choose which one you want to use for your visa stamp, and let the other company know you have to turn down their offer. I imagine they won't be happy about it, but it's your right and if you want to be ethical you can offer to refund their H1B filing fees.
I'm not an expert but from what I know the H1B is always issued for a specific person and a specific company. You are able to change the company on that visa, but the company cannot take the visa that was issued to your name and give it to another employee.

But do understand one thing. We want to pass these stories to senators and media folks to show them how badly messed up the system is. If you really want to help, please send me by email a decent (no *&^% ;-) ) version of your story. Only then we can really use it!

I would re-insist that Rallies are worthless and not worth your time. Your country is growing economically and you should spend you time looking for a job back home instead.
