Take it easy... This is just for humour, to have fun at these times.
No green card for you. Just work well for 6 years, enjoy life in US, enjoy sports cars by renting, not by buying, rent a big house, have a lawn and garden in back yard, grow your own vegetables. Have nice vacations like Hawaii, Jamaican islands, Vegas, Porto Rico etc.,Have fun in life. Do not go for green card. After 6 years, get nice job in India,own apartment near to office and ask your parents to live with you. Take kids to school . Have fun with them. Try to become director, AVP,VP,SVP,CEO,CTO and President. Do not go for green card. After you become director, buy a single family home and mercedez or BMW and have fun. My visa stamp has name some thing like that

Probably he explained in a much better way than i' d have explained. Spent 7 years on H1B, caught up in retrogression. I specialize in what is called as Rational Unified Process,train and mentor the application development teams.I've worked for a telecom company (one of the top 3 in USA), got laid off, started the journey again. Presently working for another frontline Financial Services company in the world. Recently, some of my work (with my permission) was included as a practical example for students in an university in St.Louis. however, i was not allowed to teach because of my legal status and constraints of H1B.
Even though it's painful to me, it's much more loss to the students who otherwise would have learned something valuable and make a difference in their careers
As a matter of fact, one of my colleague also applied in the same day, same attorney, same EB3, working for the same telecom company with exactly same designation but applied from Missouri, where as mine was applied in Kansas. He got his green card inspite of the layoffs, where my LC was not approved till today. (in 2002, some cases filed in MO were approved much quicker compared to Kansas) A classical example of how there is no justice &the current system is broken

I am in this country legally, paying taxes, contributing to this economy, spending my earnings in this country like any other law abiding American citizen.
I have legally asked this country and USCIS for Permanent Residency (PR). My request for PR is not based on the premise that my parents/relatives live here and are citizens in this country. I am not even asking for Permanent Residency because of the country I come from. I am asking for Permanent Residency based entirely on my educational qualifications, professional expertise and the demonstrated contributions I have made to businesses and the American way of Life.
I have also been accepted as an Instructor at a reputed University in California where I will be teaching in my area of expertise. This clearly helps the American society and Industry.
When I moved to the US, I believed America is all about meritocracy. Work hard, prove your worth and you get what you truly deserve. I feel six years is enough time to prove your worth to get a Permanent Residency.
My tax returns, my legal Status documents, my contributions to this economy etc will prove it. What is really disconcerting is the fact that, now I have to continue to wait for I don't know how many more years for USCIS to even look at my credentials, let alone give me an up or down decision. Every week I take time to do some research so that I can be on top of the immigration updates, and why not?
Attorneys have absolutely no clue about the problems and despair we are going thru. They drag heels on simple processing and documentation work, oblivious to the fact that even a single day just adds to our woes.
I need to plan more than 6 months in advance for any major change in my life , be it marriage, having a baby, investing in property - u name it. Every single life event has a big question mark after it. Will I get the visa stamped? Will I be able to extend status? Can I do this, Can I do that? Well I guess life has an immigrant in the US (legal or illegal) has a question mark ?
I am going thru this frustrating non-ending wait to get anywhere close to permanent residency. I had filed for labor - Then came the DOL overhaul, where labor certification decisions are rolled out in the most haphazard, and random fashion one can ever imagine. Unable to wait any longer I even quit the company that filed my LC and joined another company
I am waiting for the new co to file a new LC under PERM - Again I need to wait as LCs can't be filed immediately for new hires - Even finding a co that can provide immigration benefits along with other personal benefits becomes a challenge.
Now I wish my old LC never gets approved - It remains pending for a few more years - at least I can get incremental h1b extensions. (thanks to the AC21 silver lining)

First name- ______(blank!)
Last Name- Ravneet.
one every US document including SSN, License, Job, its listed as FNU Ravneet.
I am on F1 visa, working on my OPT. My student visa just expired but my OPT-EAD is valid till june09. I feel very embarassed when asked" how do u say ur first name", I need to have it changed, could somebody tell me step by step the process involved.
I can drive to NY consulate and have my passport changed, but then how to change every US document, I mean would a expired US visa be a issue? My EAD is valid and I am legally in status. Please guide!
It is clear that FNU stands for First Name Unknown. Question is why did you allow this to happen even in your first document. Perhaps for passport you didn't bother because it is blank, but letting FNU appear as your first name in a document does not make any sense. First thing should be to try for the passport office, and hope that they will correct it based on whatever your documentation (school certificate etc) can support. Perhaps it might be that what is shown as your last name, is in fact your first name, etc.

I am starting to see a trend in the receipt notices.
Some of the people reporting getting recepit notices this week (yesterday and today) have LUDs of 07/28/07. My thinking is that This week will see receipt notices for everyone with an LUD of 07/28/07
HOPEFULLY next week will see receipt notices for 08/05/2008. This is just my observation.
People please post your LUDs for your I-140, the service center AND how your receipt numbers start (SRC vs LIN) each time you post a receipt notice.
Can you let us know how to access LUD from USCIS after login? I think many will appreciate if you do so

Once again we wanted your help in getting the broken and unorganized process of green card streamlined. In July, 2008 USCIS announced that the people with priority dates upto June 2006 are eligible to have their I485 applications processed. When the time actually came to process them.
1. Instead of processing them according to the priority dates, they started processing them randomly (although the claim is that they process them according to received dates which is neither true not justified even if it was true) causing people who have been waiting for years(Many of them since 2003 or 2003) to not get their green card and the people who had their priority dates as late as 2006 were issued the green cards.
2. In the middle of August, they unofficially put the processing on hold (no official announcement to prevent the situation/lawsuit as the last year).
3. The customer service is totally inconsistent in giving individual answers. We get different answers at different times and most of them are either incomplete or unsatisfying. They also direct us to write letter to the service center directly which results in the response asking us to check website or call 1.800 number none of which again inform the real status of the case. In other words, it is a never ending loop.
Please help us in resolving the problem as you did last year.

Although it may sound ridiculous but why is everyone want to put any limits to it. If proper controls can be put in place that there are genuine jobs and candidates are genuine then there shouldn't be any limits. How come no one wants to go for this solution. It actually makes more sense then just increasing the quota or not including dependents, etc.
No cap would be the best solution... but that is very tough to sell in Washington....That's why all this complications of asking to take dependents out of the cap and allowing overflow to go to China/India...
As I understand, IV already made these arguments to senators and even the senators who are sympathetic to immigration are not willing to remove the cap..The only thing they would accept is that the overflow would go to India/China/oversubscribed countries....I wonder if one of the core members would comment on this.....You do not need to name names....Just a request give a description of your interactions with law makers in this regard...That would put this issue to rest.....
