EXPLORER CAR: Unlocking Huawei HSDPA Modems/ Dongle

Most of the time when you buy a HSDPA modem, it is locked to the original subscribers network and you are unable to use the modem with some other networks. In order to use the modem with any network, you need to unlock the modem. I have unlock my modem(E156G) and thought of sharing the information.

This proccess involved two steps.
a. Calculating the modem unlock code with the IMEI number.
b. Write the unlock code to the modem

So.. what we have to do is,

a1. Go to the link given below with the "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" replacing with you modems 15 digit IMEI number. And it will give you the unlock code.

b1. Download the "Huawei Modem Code Writer v1.0b"

b2. press the "Please Select com Port"button. And if the modem is not listed in the drop down list. press the "Detect Modem" button and select the modem.

b3. Then press Ünlock Modem" button. And its done!

In order to verify you can use several SIM cards from several networks and they should work.

*** Further to verify the unlocked status of the modem, you can download the "dc-unlocker" from the www.dc-unlocker.com. and it will show the locked status of the modem as unlocked.

*** dc-unlocker is a tool which you can use to unlock the hidden audio feature of some modems. They say its free but when really try to do it, they ask for credits. Login information is as below
User Name : free
Password : voice

*** Even though you unlock the voice feature, you only be able to dial out and there is no way one can communicate with the phone in the other end through the sound system of the PC. Any way if one wants to show off with the voice enable mobile partner you can download voice enabled "Mobile Partner" with below link.

When you install this, it will automatically uninstall the one installed in your PC.
